Below are a few of my favorites from the wedding and a little more about their love story . . .
Kendria and Marty met while they
both were attending Anderson University.
Marty and Kendria knew of each other through mutual friends; however, it
wasn't until April 2010 when God's perfect timing was shown. Marty began to
hang out at Kendria's house an unusual amount of time. They spent several
nights up late talking (which wasn't the best idea since Kendria was still
student teaching). It was after these
talks that they both knew that there was something there. Kendria left for Indy
to go to an education fair, when she return the next day Marty skateboarded
over to her house with flowers and a card asking "Will you be my
lady?" She said, “Of course.” Ever
since then, the fact that Kendria was “Marty’s
lady” has always been a part of their relationship. This is why Gradin, Marty’s nephew who was
the little ring bearer, walked down the aisle holding the “Uncle Marty, here
comes your lady” sign. I love it. Since becoming his lady, their lives have been
full of happiness and joy. They are so
blessed and thankful for God's hand in our relationship.
The proposal happened on Saturday,
July 02, 2011. That morning Kendria woke
up in an awful mood. She had been grouchy all day, but not surprisingly Marty
still wanted to be around her! Marty
suggested the idea to go downtown to eat and walk around. Kendria had no idea
that her mood was about to make a 180 degree turn. They ate at Rock Bottom, which happens to be
the same place they ate the night when their parents first met. After
dinner, they began to walk. We ended up walking down to the park where they first
told each other our feelings for one another and said "I love you."
Kendria was still clueless. While walking they noticed a wedding party out
taking pictures and were admiring the group. Kendria asked Marty if he wanted
to sit down and he said yes, suggesting a bench a little further back. Once
they got to the bench, Kendria went to sit down and when she turned around
Marty was down on one knee. Kendria began to cry and put her head down on
Marty's shoulder. While holding the ring, Marty said, "Sweet P (his
nickname for Kendria) will you marry me?" Kendria cried and said
"Yes!" Shortly after enjoying the moment, they began calling their
family and friends. I was happy to “re-enact”
this special moment during our engagement picture shoot downtown in the same
spot! So fun.
Congratulations, Kendria, on officially going from Marty's lady to Marty's Mrs.!!! Thank you again for letting me be a part of your
wedding day photos! I had a blast and couldn't be happier for you. If you would like to
