Here are a few of my favorite photos from the wedding day and a little more about their love story . . .
Sarah and Michael met at Franklin College. That is why I loved taking Sarah and Michael's engagement pictures at Franklin College! I loved getting to know them better and it was a bonus meeting their super cute Saint Bernard, Bailey, at the engagement shoot. So fun. They knew each other from their freshman year
at Franklin College and had hung out, but it wasn’t until the end of their sophomore year (March
23, 2005) when Mike finally asked Sarah out on a date. Their first date
was at the Greenwood AMC theatre (now Regal Cinema) and Mike let Sarah pick out
the movie to watch. Sarah being an action
junky picked out the movie ‘Constantine’ with Keanu Reeves. She thinks that
surprised him a bit, but she has always loved action/scary movies. That was a change for him whereas Mike loves
comedies.
Sarah knew that Mike was the one after a few dates together. He
was so sweet, kind, and a true gentleman. They have so many things in common,
so it was so easy to be themselves around one another. Their favorite
things to do with one another is to rent a movie, order dinner in (usually
pizza), on Friday nights and to chill with one another at home. They enjoy
each other company and their Saint Bernard, Bailey, loves the attention they
give to her when they are both there with her.
So Michael proposed to Sarah on March 23, 2011 (on their 6 year
anniversary). He purchased the ring and had orchestrated a dinner for the
two of them in downtown Indianapolis at the Eagle Nest. They said it was
a wonderful evening and they enjoyed being so many feet above the city as the
room rotated 360 degrees and they were able to see all of Indianapolis.
They look back and laugh now, but the day was gorgeous and so sunny . . . and then
a storm rolled in that evening and cooled the entire city. Mike wanted to
walk the streets of Indianapolis and Sarah wanted to get back into the car and
go home. It was so cold because the temperature had dropped by several degrees,
but he insisted that they go and walk to monument circle. Sarah was not
prepared and didn’t have a coat, so Mike, being the gentleman he is, let Sarah
wear his. So they made it to monument circle with the rain starting to
spatter and the night becoming colder.
Sarah noticed an ice-cream/chocolate shop and, Sarah absolutely loves
ice-cream and chocolate, (what girl doesn’t, right?). So that
incident threw Mike off his game and he had to re-route his proposal plan.
So when they exited the chocolate shop, they walked a few feet more
and Mike asked for Sarah’s hand in marriage!
Sarah was so happy, and, of course, said yes!
That night they called their family and friends to tell them the great
news. It was around eleven in the
evening, but Sarah works nights so it was just the beginning of her day. That
night Mike and Sarah sat down and came up with their wedding date. They
definitely wanted the date of “23” somewhere in the wedding because it means so
much to the two of them and Mike is a school teacher so they wanted their wedding/anniversary
to be when he is out of school. They agreed
and chose June 23, 2012. When it came to their wedding location, they have
always planned on having their wedding at Valle Vista Golf Club in Greenwood,
Indiana, because of the indoor/outdoor atmosphere.
Their favorite part of the planning process for their wedding had been
the detail aspect. They wanted their wedding to be different and
special. The wanted to incorporate their
own personal style and they have found that with their vendors they chose, that
it had been unique and special for them. They loved seeing how everything
came together and have enjoyed the magical time in their lives. They were most looking forward to saying
their vows in front of their family and friends and starting their lives
together as Mr. and Mrs. And that they did! They definitely started out their lives
together with a bang! They know how to
throw a super fun party. Here are a few
of my favorites of their magical day . . .
