Elizabeth + Peter = Married!

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Mayberry!!  Elizabeth and Peter had an awesome and super fun wedding.  It was a beautiful winter wedding.  Elizabeth first contacted me in December based on a recommendation from one of my previous brides.  She filled me in on a little background on her engagement pictures with another photographer when she explained a few of her issues and why she was searching for her wedding photographer two months prior to her big day.  I knew I had to help and I am so glad I was able to be a part of their wedding!!!  It has been an absolute blast getting to know Elizabeth and Peter.  I had to love that Elizabeth is so organized and on top of all of the details.  She is a sweetheart.  Peter is such a people-person and doesn't know a stranger.  They are both are a lot of fun.  As I got to see them for a brief time at my office this week before their flight back to Nebraska, I was so jealous of their tans and fun stories about their cruise!  So fun.

Below are a few of my pictures from their day and a little about their love story . . .
Peter & Elizabeth first met through Elizabeth’s parents, when he was transferred by his job to Indianapolis and purchased his first house around January 2006 and moved in next door to her parents, Vickie & Richard.  So I would like to think that Peter was sent to Indianapolis to meet Elizabeth!!  Hee hee.  Elizabeth had her own house in Fortville and was not living there at the time.  Her mom met Peter and started having him over for dinner because he was always saying how he didn’t know anyone and was eating at Dairy Queen for every meal.  My mom introduced Elizabeth and Peter to each other sometime in the Spring of 2006.  Elizabeth had just sold her house and moved back in with her parents so she could take college classes.  When her mom introduced them, there was another neighbor there.  Her mom said, “I would like to introduce Elizabeth, my daughter.”  Peter just kept talking about golf and acting like he was swinging a golf club.  He went on to talk about how great he was and all kinds of outrageous things.  He never said hi to Elizabeth or anything.  She thought, “what a jerk!  How could my mom like this guy and why does she want us to meet?”  My mom kept having him over for dinner when Elizabeth was there and, although it took a while for her to get over not liking him, Elizabeth finally saw that he wasn’t as bad as his first impression suggested!  One night when he was there, Elizabeth started watching a live Dixie Chick concert online and he said he liked that song “Not Ready to Make Nice” because it is so angry.  They watched the concert together and started bonding from there.  They don’t really think there was only one moment when they knew they had found ‘the one.’ Because they were friends for almost 4 years before they started dating, they couldn’t pinpoint just one moment.
They love to watch movies together on their ‘date nights,’ and rent a lot of movies from Redbox and have Netflix.  They seem to get along because they are so different and great compliments to each other.  Peter is very spontaneous, so whenever they do something, it’s usually last minute.  Elizabeth’s very organized and loves to have a plan.  Elizabeth loves that he makes her be spontaneous and do things she wouldn’t normally do and weren’t planned.  One example of Peter’s spontaneity … Elizabeth was having a bad day and that night he decided to make her get in the car so they would ‘drive around.’  She was not in the mood for it, complained for a while, but once she did relax, she soon started to forget about her bad day.  He drove her around to look at Christmas lights, because he knew she liked them. He comes up with things out of the blue and he always knows how to make her whole day better!
For the proposal, Peter had put a lot of thought into the way he was going to ask her.  They went to Fogo de Chao Restaurant in downtown Indianapolis with her parents, her mom’s friend, Paula, and Paula’s husband, Russell.  When Peter and Elizabeth were walking back to the car, he said he wanted to go look at Conseco Fieldhouse because he forgot what it looked like.  Elizabeth used to work for the Indiana Pacers and Fever, so the fieldhouse was a very special place for her.  She has lots of wonderful memories from working with wonderful people there and now has one more amazing memory to add.  When they were under the "Fieldhouse" sign, he got down on one knee and proposed with a ring he made out of wire and coal.  He said, "with a lot of time, pressure, and stress it will turn into a beautiful diamond.  Will you marry me?"  She, of course, said yes and was given the real diamond ring.
They began planning the wedding shortly after.  Her mom suggested she look at Valle Vista after she had looked online and was getting discouraged because she had just not found the right place.  Elizabeth fell in love with the pictures of winter weddings there and the “lighting ceremony” on the veranda!
She has really enjoyed being able to plan her wedding and has had so much fun with almost everything.  She said there were two things she didn’t enjoy…the engagement pictures (with a different photographer than me that was not an enjoyable experience. I was glad I got to give her a much more enjoyable and fun experience with her wedding day photos!!) and when the wrong wedding dress came in.  But all things happen for a reason, because she loved her wedding dress so much more and was so thankful for my wedding photos!!  Other than those two experiences (that really turned into better situations for the not-so-enjoyable experiences in getting there), she has loved picking everything for the wedding!  It was very time consuming, but so fun for her!  She got especially excited when she found things in the right color of Tiffany Blue, their wedding color.  She found it was so hard to find, because the color is trademarked.  This helped her decide that she was only using it as an accent color.  She didn’t want to have a lot of it and have everything clash because they weren’t the same color.  I do have to say that it all turned out really nice!
What Elizabeth and Peter were looking forward to most on the wedding day was having their friends and family members there to celebrate with them.  Elizabeth and Peter are my ideal clients, because they are great people and they put photography on the top of their “most-important-things-for-the-wedding-day” list.  Elizabeth was really looking forward to all of the wedding day pictures and a better experience than her engagement pictures with their previous photographer.  Elizabeth let me know, “to me, the pictures are the most important part of the wedding because it is the only thing you get to keep!”
They went on a 7-day Princess Cruise to the Caribbean.  They went to the St. Thomas, St. Marten, Princess Cays Bahamas, and Turks and Caicos!  They were looking forward to the warm weather the most!  They thought everything was going to be so much fun, were looking forward to all of it!  I do have to say, when I saw them earlier this week before their return back to Omaha, they had amazing tans and huge smiles on their faces.  They had a blast!  Now that the wedding planning is done and they are Mr. & Mrs. Mayberry, one goal they have is to get their basement finished ASAP!  It’s been a work in progress for almost 3 years now for them!  But Elizabeth’s number one goal is to get started on having a baby!!  They would like to have 3 or 4 so they need to get started!  Such an amazing couple and I can’t wait to see all that lies ahead of them in the future.
This was one photo that Elizabeth was really wanting to do.  It is so cute and I love that we can see Peter's fun socks in there too!  :)
The sunset was picture perfect!  We got the tail end of that sun setting and it made for some gorgeous pictures.  Some of my favorites of the day!!!  :)
Peter said he liked the 'aged look' in the photos when he came by my studio this week, so I had to do this photo of him in his signature pose with that aged finish to the photo.  :)
Their cute little ring bearer didn't want to be in the pictures with the boys outside, but we came and and he struck this little pose.  The groomsmen had to do the same pose!  :)
Their dance lessons paid off, they did a great job!  :)
