Best Advice to Brides/Grooms to get the Most Out of Bridal Shows!
- Come with an Open Mind! Be ready for inspiration and creative ideas and people all around you. I suggest taking a few of your favorite ideas that you have from the show and incorporate those into your wedding. Bring a pen and paper and you could make a list of those "Like It, Love It, Gotta Have It" List!! You get a lot of information at one time and you will want to keep notes of those vendors and ideas you really liked.
- Bring a Camera or Phone for Pictures! There are items you will see and want to remember for later.
- Bring a Tote or Bag! Something over the shoulder that you can put the packets or information you pick up into.
- Make Address Labels with your Info! It may be helpful as you are giving the vendors the same information for their give-a-ways to have stickers with the bride/groom's name, wedding date, phone number, email and wedding locations. If you don't know your wedding date and/or locations, just put approximate with "Spring 2015 and Indy Area" or what you may know at that point.
- Bring Someone that likes those Details! Sometimes your fiance is involved in the planning and sometimes not. I recommend bringing someone that likes being involved in the planning details and will enjoy checking out dresses, cakes, tuxes, honeymoon options and other misc stuff. You'll find any thing for rents to pampering yourself. whether that be your fiance, your mom, bridesmaids, family or friends!
- Wear Comfortable Shoes! Be cute, but comfy!! The odds are you'll be on your feet for quite a while, and uncomfortable shoes will tire you out too quickly.
- Save on Admission! If there is an admission fee to the show, check out the vendor list for the show you're attending. Most vendors receive a number of complimentary tickets to give away to people interested in their services. Contact a vendor you might be interested in and ask if they have a couple of comps so you can come check them out.
- Create a "Wedding Email" Address! Register in advance for a free e-mail address from one of the many free services like Hotmail, Gmail or Yahoo. When filling out contest entry forms and inquiry sheets use this address, so that when the wedding is over you can simply cancel the account and avoid any further wedding related e-mail. Reserve your main e-mail address for vendors you actually contract with.
- Have Fun! If you just got engaged, you won't know too many details for your planning yet. That is normal and you need to remember to not be overwhelmed and just enjoy the day. You will have time after the show to sort out all the information and decide your wedding date, location and vendors! The show is all about celebrating you two and the engagement - have fun and enjoy yourself!
